Penickett is the son of the former Prime Minister of the Yukon, Tony Penickett, who immigrated to Victoria (British Columbia) from England at the age of 12, and Lulla Sierra Jones, in White River, was the first to settle in the Yukon. He has two brothers and twin sisters, Sarah and Stephanie.
