Born April 15, 1951 - American film producer, screenwriter.
Parks wrote and produced alongside Laurence Lasker and Valon Green and earned an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay. Parks and Lasker have jointly produced several films, including The Quiet and The Awakening, which was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1990. In other films, Parks has been a producer or executive producer: Men in Black, The Wind Runner, Golden Globe Winner Sweeney Todd, Dinner with the Nerds, Gladiator, Minority Report, Catch Me If You Can ”,“ Call ”,“ Terminal ”,“ Lemony Snicket: 33 Misfortunes ”,“ Cursed Path ”,“ Artificial Intelligence ”,“ Impact with the Abyss ”,“ Tornado ”,“ The Legend of Zorro ”and“ Amistad ”.
In 1994, Parks was appointed president of Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment, and a year later, he and his wife Laurie MacDonald, who is also a business partner, set up DreamWorks. As president of the studio, Parks, in collaboration with Laurie MacDonald, oversaw the development and production of all DreamWorks film projects, including the following three Oscar winners in the Best Picture category: American Beauty, Gladiator and A Beautiful Mind is the last two in partnership with Universal Studios. There were also other films produced during their leadership: Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous, Robert Zemeckis's What Lies Around, Adam McKay's TV Host: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Michael Mann's Partner and Academy Award-winning "Golden Globe" drama by Steven Spielberg "Saving Private Ryan"
Parks is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Screenwriters Guild of America and the Global Business Network. He serves on the board of directors of the Center for a New American Security (CNAS).
