Nina Katharina Hagen was born on March 11, 1955 in East Berlin. Her mother, Eva Hagen, was known as a famous German actress, and her father Hans Hagen was a screenwriter. Nina Hagen did not show any particular attraction to learning. So, leaving the tenth grade, the girl took up vocals with interest, and in 1974 she made her debut in big cinema.
In 1976 the Hagen family moved to the GDR. West Germany at that time differed in many respects from East Germany; the spirit of freedom and various youth movements hovered here. One of such movements Nina became interested in, it became punk rock, for the sake of which the future star artist goes to London - the then capital of punk.
Upon his return to his homeland, Hagen organized his own group, the Nina Hagen band, and in 1978 the first album was released, which brought the group incredible success. General recognition flattered Nina, but the second album turned out to be not as top-notch as the first, and therefore the artist is looking for other ways to gain the attention of the general public: at first she demonstrates masturbation in a night talk show, and then a film with Nina Hagen Cha Cha is released, where she is filmed along with the legend of sex, rock 'n' roll and drugs - Herman Brood.
Nina recorded her first solo disc in 1982. It came out under the name NunSexMonkRock and was an amazing cocktail of punk, hard rock and opera. After her, the world saw three more records of the singer, but their popularity was much lower than the previous work. Today, Nina has 19 albums, and many of the singer's tracks are at the top of the charts. The last disc, called Volksbeat, was released in 2011.
It is worth noting the non-trivial cinema with Nina Hager, among which the documentary musical Dandy (1988), the adventure film Vasilisa (2000), the fantastic comedy 7 Dwarfs (2004) stand out.
