Born March 20, 1957 is an American animated film director, animator and producer.
Chris graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius High School in 1975. Graduated from college (State University of New York at Purchase) in 1981. He then earned a master's degree in computer graphics and drawing from Ohio State University at Columbus. In New York, Chris Wedge studied at the School of Art (SVA, from the English School of Visual Arts) in Manhattan.
Wedge is co-founder and vice president of animation studio Blue Sky Studios and owner of WedgeWorks film company. At SVA, Wedge met Carlus Saldania, who was invited to work as an artist for Blue Sky Studios. Since 1990, Chris has been married to Alice Tare Wedge, the couple have two children.
On March 21, 1999 in Los Angeles, California, at the 71st Academy Awards, Chris Wedge's directed animated short Bunny won the Best Animated Short Film category.
Carlus Saldanha, together with Wedge, directed the animated film Ice Age, released in 2002. Later on, Saldanya took over the director's role, and Wedge took over as executive producer. Also in all parts of Wedge voiced (reproduced the sounds he made) the rat-white Scrat. In January 2010, The New York Times published an article about Blue Sky Studios, highlighting the plan for a fourth Ice Age, where Wedge will again take over as director as Saldanha is busy on another Blue Sky Studios cartoon - “ Rio ". In 2013, after the release of the cartoon, Epic Wedge left Blue Sky Studios and moved to Paramount.
