The actress spent her childhood in a prestigious area of ??Manhattan. The desire to become an actress appeared after graduating from college. She made her debut in the early 1960s and appeared in numerous Broadway productions over the next two decades.
In 1963, the actress made her big screen debut in The Wedding Party, which was released only six years later. Clayburgh achieved success in cinema a little later, playing in 1976 the role of Hilly Burns in the film "Silver Arrow". She also became successful in her role in the film Single Woman in 1978, for which she received the Silver Award for Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival, as well as nominations for Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA. Jill Clayburgh died at the age of 66 in her home (USA, Connecticut) in a circle of close people. Death occurred on November 5, 2010 after a fight with chronic lymphocytic leukemia, which lasted about 21 years. This was announced to the press by the husband of the actress David Reib.
