Born March 11, 1977, Rosenheim, Bavaria - German film director.
Studied art history at the University of Salzburg (Universitat Salzburg).
Started his film career working in advertising and working as an assistant for Peter Lilienthal and Edgar Reitz. In 1999 he shot his first short film, and in 2001 his short film (Der Atemkunstler) was nominated for the German First Steps Award.
In 2003 he shot his first full-length film Whole. The next film, Summer Storm, filmed in 2004, brings him several awards and international fame. In an interview, Kreuzpaintner admitted that in Summer Storm he practically described the history of his coming out.
In 2007, Kreuzpaintner is working on Roland Emmerich's Slavery project. In 2008 he will film the novel by Otfried Preusler "Krabat, or Legends of the Old Mill".
