Born July 30, 1941, Barcelona is a Spanish actress and theater director who is best known for her comedic roles. Twice winner of the Goya Award for Best Supporting Actress in the films Why Talk About Love When They Mean Sex? (1993) and No Shame by Joaquin Oristrel (2001). She has hosted the Goya Awards three times - in 1993, 1998 and 2001. Winner of the Fotogramas de Plata Award for Best Theatrical Actress (2003) .
Without a theatrical education, she started in an amateur theater in Barcelona. In 1962 she joined the professional theater troupe. Film success came in the late 1980s. In the 1990s, she starred with directors such as Fernando Colomo, Ventura Pons, Fernando Trueba, Joaquin Oristrell and Manuel Gomez Pereira.
The younger brother of the actress Javier Sarda is a journalist. She was married to actor Josep Maria Mainat. The acting dynasty was continued by their son, Paul Mainat.
