Born 5 March 1939 - British actress.
Her childhood was spent in Buckinghamshire. At the age of 5 she went to a nunnery, where she lived until 17. Her passion for the stage began in school plays and concerts.
Samantha's mother was against studying at the Royal Academy of Arts, but allowed her daughter to graduate from art school, and then the Webber Douglas School of Dramatic Art in London. Her first play was Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" .
In 1961, on the stage of the Royal Theater in London, Samantha Eggar was noticed by a film producer, who invited her to play in the film "Wild and Thirsty" with John Hurt and Ian McShane.
In 1965, her role as Miranda Gray in The Collector earned the actress several prestigious nominations, a Golden Globe Award and a Cannes Film Festival prize. In the 60s, Samantha starred in such films as the comedy with Cary Grahn "Come, Don't Run" and the musical with Rex Harrison, "Doctor Doolittle". In 1970, Sean Connery and Richard Harris starred in Molly Maguires, and in 1972 she starred as the female lead in the CBS television series Anna and the King, starring Yul Brynner.
In 1980, the Canadian Film Academy celebrated Samantha's participation in David Cronenberg's experimental film Brood, opposite Oliver Reed.
