Born 10 March 1983 - British actor.
Spall was the second child of Shane (nee Baker) and Timothy Spall. Rafe followed in his father's footsteps, unlike his two sisters, Mercedes and Pascal, a primary school teacher and textile designer, respectively. According to Rafe, his father became a star on stage after starring in the play Outside Edge. Rafe was named after the main character in the play The Knight of the Burning Pestle, in which his father played in the Royal Shakespeare troupe in 1981, later Rafe himself played in the same play in 2005. He attended Haberdashers' Aske's Hatcham College in New Gross Gate, but subsequently left due to poor academic performance. After several setbacks to enroll in drama schools, he joined the National Youth Theater troupe.
His career began after being spotted by an agent at the National Youth Theater (theater director Nicholas Nickleby) and has since appeared in television, film and radio productions. He also worked with the group Arkane.
In 2011, he took part in the film "Anonymous" by the American-German director Roland Emmerich, in which he played the great playwright William Shakespeare.
