Holliday took the last name of a friend of his cousin as his artistic pen name. In 1960 Johnny Holliday recorded his first album. In 1961 he created the Golden Strings group. Many of the rocker's performances were associated with scandals. Thus, the recording of the 1970 program, where Johnny sang the song "Jesus Christ", was not allowed to air. In 1997, French President Jacques Chirac presented Johnny Holliday with the Order of the Legion of Honor. Since March 2005, Johnny Holliday has been the publisher of the bimonthly Limited Access magazine.
In 2009, Johnny Holliday's tour (which was announced as a farewell) called "Tour 66" took place, its main event was three concerts at the Stade de France - on May 29, 30 and 31, which attracted a total of 240,000 spectators. On March 28, 2011, the new album "Jamais seul" was released, sales of which in the first week amounted to 99,089 copies, and in the French charts it was in first place for 2 weeks.
On September 6, 2011, the premiere of the play "Le paradis sur terre" took place, in which the singer and actor played the main role (directed by Bernard Murat, Theater Edouard VII, Paris). A new concert tour in France is planned for May-July 2012, including three performances at Stade de France.
