Born 1978, Australia is an Australian film director, screenwriter and producer.
Patrick tried to shoot his first short films when he was still very young, at the same time he attended film school, where he spent three years.
Before directing his first film, Patrick created a series of commercials, short films and tried to write a script for a modern western. He released his first short film in the early 2000s, it was the 22-minute film "The Director", where he performed several creative guises at once - director, screenwriter, co-producer and editor.
After that, he became the director and co-writer of the 12-minute melodrama Signs, which was completed in 2008. This film drew attention to the person of Patrick in professional circles. He was noticed by Sylvester Stallone himself, who later insisted that Hughes became the director of the new film "The Expendables 3".
After a while, Patrick began to create his debut full-length project, which premiered in February 2010. While working on the thriller "Red Hill", he not only took the director's chair, he also wrote the script for the film, independently edited and acted as a producer. Australian actors Ryan Kwanten, Steve Beasley and Tommy Lewis were invited to star in the film.
Three years later, in August 2013, filming began for the sequel to The Expendables 3 franchise, in which Hughes directed, co-produced and starred Sylvester Stallone, along with Jason Statham, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Antonio Banderas and many other eminent actors. Filming ended in October 2013 and premiered on 4 August 2014 in London.
Recently it was revealed that Patrick Hughes will direct a remake of the 2011 Indonesian film Raid, starring Taylor Kitsch and Frank Grillo. The film is still in production.
