Born April 18, 1953 Toronto, Ontario, Canada - Canadian and American actor, comedian, and producer. In the 1970s, he worked (as Rick Allen) as a disc jockey for various radio stations in Toronto, including CFTR, CKFH and CHUM-FM. Together with Ken Finkleman, they created a radio comedy show for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. His acting career began on television in 1977. Moranis is known as one of the "McKenzie brothers" - a couple of comic characters (two real Canadians), created by him and Dave Thomas as a protest against the nationalization of Canadian television, later Moranis and Thomas were awarded the Order of Canada for their contribution to the country's culture. The McKenzie Brothers made their film debut in 1983 in Strange Brew (1983). As a comedy film actor, Rick Moranis is best known for the fantastic films Ghostbusters I-II (1984 - 89), Mel Brooks's parody of Star Wars - Space Eggs (1987), the film version of The Flintstones (1994), as well as the TV series about the half-crazy inventor Wayne Shalinski - the first in this series was the film Darling, I Shrunk the Children! (1989) .
At the peak of his career, Rick's wife died (in 1991) and in 1997, after the film "Darling, We Shrunk Ourselves," he decided to leave the cinema, devoting himself to raising children.
