Born August 15, 1950 - American actress.
Tess Harper was born in Arkansas to Ed and Rosemary Wash. She studied at the University of Arkansas at Beebe, then transferred to Southwestern Missouri University. She became interested in acting as a child, performing in local amateur theaters, but she did it professionally only in 1983, when she made her debut as the young widow Rose Lee in Bruce Beresford's drama Tender Mercy. This debut role earned the aspiring actress a Golden Globe nomination. This was followed by the films Silkwood (1983) and The Flash (1984), and the role of Chick Boyle in the black comedy Crimes of the Heart (1986) by the same Bruce Beresford brought Harper an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
Later, the actress played in the films “My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys” (1991), “Jackal” (1997), “Sea Turtles” (2005), “No Country for Old Men” (2007), and also appeared in a number of television series, among which Murder She Wrote, Tomorrow Comes Today, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, One Tree Hill, Breaking Bad, Revenge and many others.
