Born August 1949 is an American film producer, screenwriter and actress.
She attended Western New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico and moved to Arizona in 1977.
Ossana first read Annie Prue's story Brokeback Mountain in The New Yorker on October 13, 1997. She immediately convinced her partner McMurtry to read it and asked him if he felt they could write a story based script. McMurtry agreed. They asked Pru's permission to write the script. Pru replied that she had not seen a potential movie from her story, but she agreed. Ossana and McMurtry went on to write the script, which they completed in 1998. Ossana and McMurtry's screenplay won an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay, as well as a Golden Globe for Best Screenplay and a WGA Award. Ossana, as producer of the film, also won a Golden Globe Award for Best Drama. The film was released in the United States in December 2005. The Mountain received widespread critical acclaim and won the Golden Lion (Best Picture) at the Venice Film Festival and the Golden Globe for Best Film - Drama.
