Born June 6, 1974 in Manhattan Beach, California is an American actor, screenwriter, film and television producer, and film director.

He started acting at a young age. Strong rented videos from the Video Archives and befriended Quentin Tarantino, who worked there as a clerk. "I used to literally sit down and chat with him for 45 minutes about films, and he switched me to those films that have not been watched for decades." Strong attended Mira Costa High School and then studied film and theater at the University of Southern California.

Strong is best known for playing Jonathan Levinson in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Paris Geller's boyfriend Doyle McMaster in Gilmore Girls, and has also appeared in films such as Pleasantville, Dangerous Thoughts, Favorite , a scary movie parody, as well as a grunt Garkin in Sidney White. The film stars Kevin Spacey, Laura Dern, Denis Leary, John Hurt and Tom Wilkinson and premiered on May 25, 2008. The script was ranked # 1 on the 2007 Hollywood Blacklist, a list of "most liked" but unproduced scripts as voted by the Hollywood community and insiders. Strong was nominated for an Emmy in 2008 for Best Screenplay in a Miniseries, Film or Drama Program, for Recount. The film was nominated for Best Miniseries or Television Film at the 66th Golden Globes and won an Emmy Award for Best Television Film, as well as a US Writers Guild Award for Best Original Screenplay for a Television Film.

After Calculating, Strong wrote the 2012 film adaptation of The Game Has Changed, based on a book written by John Heilimann and Mark Halperin. The film stars Julianne Moore and aired on HBO on March 10, 2012. In 2012, he won an Emmy Award for Best Screenplay in a Miniseries, Film or Drama Program for The Game Has Changed.
