Born May 14, 1959, Toledo, USA - American film director, producer, screenwriter and actor.
His directorial debut took place in 1989 (The Well of Death). Fame was brought to him by the fantastic film "The Lawnmower" in the genre of cyberpunk. Leonard wrote a script for him (tentatively titled "Cybernetic God") and staged the picture himself. To draw attention to the film, New Line Cinema tried to pass off the picture as a screen version of Stephen King's short story "The Lawnmower Man", but the writer sued and demanded that his name be removed from the credits. "Lawnmower" was a breakthrough in the depiction of virtual reality in cinema for its time, and also played on the ideas of the development of intelligence from the story "Flowers for Algernon" by Daniel Keyes.
In 1995, two films by Brett Leonard were nominated for the Grand Prix at the International Film Festival in Catalonia.
