Born October 6, 1958, Chicago, Illinois, USA - American writer, author of numerous spy novels and thrillers.

He spent most of his childhood in Afghanistan and the Philippines, then his family returned to the States, where they moved from city to city several times: Bellingham, Washington, Albany, New York. Here Joseph attended Shaker High School. After school, he entered Yale University, where he majored in Russian.

In 1984, Joseph received his master's degree at the Harvard Russian Research Center, and later taught there.

In 1983, while still a undergraduate student, Finder published the book Red Carpet: The Connection Between the Kremlin and America's Most Powerful Businessmen about the scandalous connections of multimillionaire Armand Hammer with Soviet intelligence and how several very famous and wealthy American businessmen, such as how David Rockefeller, Avril Harriman, Armand Hammer, Cyrus Eaton, Donald Kendall benefited from trade with the Soviet Union. This “non-fictional report” was based on interviews with key “culprits”, their colleagues, government officials and documents available to the author under the Freedom of Information Act. Hammer threatened to sue for libel, but after the collapse of the Soviet Union, archives were opened that confirmed the truth of the facts described in the book. Finder's research for Red Carpet gave him material for his first piece of art.

In 1991, The Moscow Club came out, a novel about a secret plan for the restoration of the communist regime, developed in the bowels of the Soviet KGB, and about the attempts of an American agent to prevent a strike directed against Gorbachev. Six months after the book was published in August 1991, the story of Finder's novel repeated itself in reality. The Moscow Club was published in thirty countries around the world and became a bestseller in Europe.

Nearly all of Finder's novels have made the New York Times bestseller lists. In addition to fiction books, Finder writes extensively about espionage and international affairs in various newspapers and magazines.

Joseph Finder is a founding member of the International Thriller Writers Association (ITW); a member of the Detective Writers Association of America (MWA); a financial advisor to the New England PEN International; a member of the Association of Former US Intelligence Officers.
