Born 1964, Yorkshire, England, UK - British documentary filmmaker, producer and writer.
Taught English Literature at Kumble College, Oxford. Before becoming a producer, she shot documentaries for Heyday Films for ten years. She married Tim Waterstone, gave birth to two girls.
Her debut novel "The very thought of you" was nominated for Amazon Rising Star, RNA Romantic Novel of the Year, Prince Maurice Prize 2010 and was shortlisted for the prestigious Orange Prize, which has been awarded to women since 1996 - to authors writing in English. Although the book did not receive a major award, Daisy Goodwin, chairman of the jury, recalled at the ceremony that the prize is intended not only to support women in literary work, but also to stimulate book sales. According to her, Alison's novel, whose name was hardly mentioned in the media before the announcement of the short-list of the award, after quite quickly sold out in the amount of 50 thousand copies. Rosie Alison also produced The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.
