Born August 24, 1957, USA - American screenwriter, producer and director.
Neumeier studied journalism at the University of California, Santa Cruz, then attended the School of Motion Picture and Television at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). After completing his undergraduate degree (UCLA), Neumeier began working in the Hollywood film industry, first as an assistant director on Taxi, then as a proofreader for Paramount Pictures and Columbia Pictures, and finally as a lower-tier executive at Universal Pictures.
Neumeier had already written his first drafts for Robot Police when he received an offer to become one of the vice presidents of Universal Pictures. He turned down this offer to further develop the script for the RoboCop movie with Michael Miner.
The script was purchased by Orion Pictures and a budget of just under $ 15 million was provided for the production of the film. The film was directed by Paul Verhoeven.
Neumeier was involved in the production of Robot Police, which was released in 1987 in North America. The film was a success, with more than $ 50 million in ticket sales in the United States alone.
Originally it was supposed that Neumeier would write the script for the movie RoboCop 2. He wrote the first draft of the script, but a writers' strike broke out, which prevented the completion of the project. Orion Pictures hired comic book artist Frank Miller to write his own script for RoboCop 2.
A decade after the release of the first RoboCop film, Neumeier again teamed up with Paul Verhoeven to work on the film Starship Troopers, based on the 1959 novel of the same name by Robert A. Heinlein.
