Born January 4, 1963, New York is an American screenwriter, director and producer.
She completed her studies at Amherst College in 1984 and then received a Fellowship in Drama at the American Film Institute. In 1994, Grand began her television career as a screenwriter for the Fox series "We Are Five," and the following year, without much success, debuted on the big screen with the animated film Pocahontas. Her next work, the 1998 film A Story of Eternal Love, was more successful, after which she wrote the screenplay for Erin Brockovich.
Grant has written screenplays for the successful films 28 Days (2000), Away From You (2005), Charlotte's Web (2006) and The Soloist (2009), as well as the critically acclaimed drama Cat and Mouse (2007), where she also directed. In 2011, Grant co-authored the CBS drama The Gifted Man, which closed after one season. In 2014, she produces the soap drama Members Only for ABC.
